Rootstock Effects on Anthocyanin Accumulation and Associated Biosynthetic Gene Expression and Enzyme Activity during Fruit Development and Ripening of Blood Oranges

Blood orange (Citrus sinensis L. Osbeck) is a rare commercial citrus fruit containing abundant anthocyanins and has numerous health benefits. rootstock determines the yield quality. This study evaluated effect of three most commonly used rootstocks on features, color index, physicochemical parameters, anthocyanin accumulation, biosynthetic gene expression, associated enzymes during development ripening ‘Tarocco’ blood orange. The highest content at harvest was found in trees grafted onto ‘Trifoliate orange’ (Poncirus trifoliata Raf., Pt) rootstock. Molecular analyses revealed that affects accumulation Additionally, there strong correlation between expression activity related genes enzymes, respectively. Based enzymatic analyses, Pt promotes very high fruit. Accordingly, promising for producing good quality highly nutritious purposes.
